Most of my time (an approximate 12 hours a day, actually) is spent in front of my computer doing blogs like this one, checking my emails (and ridding it of annoying spam mails), surfing, and chatting with friends. Chatting is especially useful when I try to get updated on my friends' lives when we are all too busy to meet each other up. A self-professed chat addict, I would not know what my internet life would be without chatting.
There is a lot of chat applets that are readily downloadable from the world wide web. Yahoo Messenger is just one of the instantly available chat applications around. Through several years, what was basically just a form of real-time communication spawned a lot of developments. These days, aside from chatting, you can also share photos, see each other through webcam, and hear each other's voice while typing away. Isn't technology a blessing?
The modern chatting originated from Internet Relay Chat or IRC. A student from University of Oulu in Finland was the one who developed this system. Jarkko Oikarinen, the creator, improved an already existing chat program named MultiUser Talk or MUT. The result was IRC, which was launched in the year 1988.

Today is the period of the globalization. The internet, perhaps is the single greatest contributing factor to this advancement. There's a lot of debates and different perspectives about this economic development. There are those who contest this development, claiming that it is simply an attempt to extend the control of multi-national companies to all the other parts of the world. Developing countries are crying out, claiming that what was proposed to be a fair and free trade among nations, is simply an ideal that is left out of reality. Other theorists claim, that this is an inevitable result of the development of imperialism, capitalism, and so on.
The problem with this is that the perspectives being taken are focused entirely on the economical aspect of the globalization phenomenon. Little do we see the benefits that are arising from the said social movement. Assistance to people who have been victims of natural disasters are coming from everywhere. Health and medical services are more far reaching than ever before. Communication, scientific researches, and understanding have all progressed substantially.
But regardless, it is simply undeniable that this has been the direction human civilization has moved towards. Globalization in its broadest term, is simply a social phenomena wherein all of the people in the world become united. With the advent of Wireless internet access, it becomes hopeless and self-defeating to resist this change.
The hardest part in any type of change sets in during the transition period from one point to the other. It wouldn't be far ahead before this event is accepted. Then, true progress will begin.

The idea behind the marketing of the newest technological discovery in 1983-84 sprang from the notion that Internet is popular, thus there is a high possibility of making a lot of money out of it. But unknowingly, entrepreneurs during those times failed to understand the essence of Internet. Suffice to say, they lacked the necessary education about Internet.
This prompted the Internet Activities Board (IAB) and Dan Lynch to literally conduct workshops for the entrepreneurs. Basically, the lessons were about Internet Protocol and its functions. This gave way to a wider understanding the Internet, thus the inclusion of IP to commercial products reached the international market. Information Technology is undeniable that the education from IAB provided information technology professionals and computer wizards as well the confidence to compete with the growing Internet market.
Ever since this commercialization succeeded in reaching the highest level of sales, the manufacturing industries, for almost two decades now, is continuously improving their products to meet the standards. Indeed, they have become the basic commodities in our business world and provide wireless network solutions. If we try to assess the present condition of the market, it is definitely among the strongest in history.

After the discovery of Internet in UCLA, news began to spread that Internet has a very high probability of being successful in other fields. So, Internet was incorporated in military and government affairs. ARPANET has become a very popular name during the 1970's. It is pretty obvious that the computer became the most sought-after device that time. Also, companies began to swarm the Internet business, so to speak.
If you think that researches stopped after the triumph of Internet, you are mistaken. Information technology professionals thought that Internet will not only make file sharing possible, but fast communication as well. A decade passed, and several names were added on the annals of Internet. Most of them came from Europe and America. Organizations were also formed to handle the researches and keep the security of the files under and being operated within the system of Internet.
If I am not mistaken, the birth of WWW came about sometime in 1983. Since then, all sites linked to the internet must use www as protocol. Thanks to this breakthrough, a wide networking system already is accessible to anyone, anywhere in the globe. This era also gave birth to website search engines, and the science of website designing began.

As far as I could remember, Internet was first used for laboratory purposes. Indeed, when the discovery of this technology have already penetrated the interests of the government, Internet was bound to serve for military missions. Well, that must have been the toughest challenge ever faced by the Internet because as we all know, military requires precise and real-time information dissemination. Internet was thought to be very useful and powerful weapon against the enemies.
So, as the story went, Internet succeeded. But, unknown to many, the ARPANET was compelled was to divide its system into two. The first one, the MILitary InterNET, was mainly used by the US forces, while the ARPA network served as its back-up. The system was intricately planned that if there will be interferences ARPA could right away disconnect the MILNET. Meanwhile, the two systems used e-mail as mode of communication.
Just why should we make ourselves aware of this fact? The answer is simply because this initial plan was the brainchild of the mostly, worldwide used network communication - e-mail. Also, this piece of history gave birth to the IP network scenarios that we have right now. It was said that after the huge success of MILNET, the US government then tried to adapt the same system for academic purposes. No wonder, US have already established a strong and wide network system that links itself to all parts of the world.

1969. This year was, according to the professors in UCLA, the beginning of Internet in the said campus. Hey, let me just remind you that if this story is true, then UCLA must have discovered Internet long before the US government, the Department of Defense to be precise, used the technology for military purposes. Anyway, a professor named Kleinrock claims that he and his assistant, Kline, were the first to discover Internet.
Just what exactly happened on that day? Well, we only have rumors or, technically speaking, statements from the close friends and colleagues of the involved personages. According to them, Kline was the first to perform the packet switching scheme. Actually, it all started with a long-distance call to Stanford. After the call, Kline, who was busy with the communication interface, attempted to communicate to Stanford by typing the word LOG one letter at a time. The first two letters were received by Stanford, but when Kline typed in G, the whole system collided. After some time, when Kleinrock had all the time to fix the system, the connection was completed.
So what is the big deal? The story behind the discovery of Internet in UCLA, the research that ended in connecting Stanford and UCLA to other universities, only proved that the tech guys in the campus simply used their talents in making such attempt a success. We cannot deny the fact that this led to a wider and far more convenient way to access the libraries of the participating universities. I guess we just have to be thankful for that.

Sixteen years ago, the Internet is not that popular yet. The technology of sharing files or interconnection between several computers hooked to a single system is not that widely used yet. Instead, this scheme is used for business purposes. Specifically, CERN used Internet for their physics laboratory. The conclusion of Andresen and his colleagues were proved to be true. Internet, indeed, made the sharing of information a lot easier.
By the time Internet succeeded in CERN, the great European continent was hailed as the first recipients of this technology. It just pains me to hear people associate Internet with the United States. Yeah, the brainchild of the popular Google search engine came from the US, but the mastermind of the technology behind it came from Europe, in Switzerland to be precise.
However, CERN was not that really mindful of its huge success. The Internet, after passing the series of tests, was finally adapted by all other computer networks from across Europe. A decade after, the Internet has become the largest source of information. Undeniably, everything and anything under the sun could be found in the Internet. All these and more, we owe to CERN and genius behind the physics students and professors.

E-mail has been an alternative tool that produces faster, unlimited, boundless and best of all, free communication. I used e-mail to share my autobiography and stories to my friends and would be friends. some of the people I know, use it as recipient of messages from various fan listings or websites of their favorite celebrities.
Electronic mail is defined as the utilization of computer systems to transmit messages among users. These messages are then kept centrally till the recipient acknowledge it. Its conveniences are provided by most huge computer systems and are available both nationally and internationally.
In the year 1971, Engineer Ray Tomlison coined the first email system. He made the complete feature of the e-mail address that we are enjoying now. The first original message sent digitally was transmitted between two nodes in the ARPANET network. As the benefits that ARPANET got from e-mail became popular, numerous protocols were innovated for its delivery among aggregates of computers. The premier email client is Eudora that gave a graphic program that controlled display. It was immediately superseded by Internet Explorer and Netscape since both clients were free with their web site browser.

We've been using the World Wide Web in researching solid facts and sometimes soft fallacies for educational, entertainment and other purposes. More often than not, it is use to search for information that are not found in normal libraries. It is such a good source of information that even those that are restricted by the norms of the society are found there.
Since the Internet have been around for a long time, it is but necessary for us to learn about the birth of the helpful tool that we have today. As far as I know, the objective of having inter-networking of communication started way back 1957 when the USSR launched Sputnik, the premier earth satellite. As a retort, USA created the Advanced Research Projects Agency to launch the country's guide in Science and Technology that would be beneficial for military use. ARPAnet, world's first physical network was constructed on 1969 to link four points. It was chained using 50 Kbps circuits. ARPA was renamed Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in 1972.
On 1974, Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn first used the word Internet in a paper on Transmission Control Protocol. It was in the year 1983, when it was officially called Internet by the whole nation, as a short phrase for internetworking.

The Information age was not really ushered in by the invention of computers but rather by the development of computer networking. Without computer networking, individual computers would be mere storage and processing devices and not communication tools.
With computer networking, the overall "intelligence" computer is improved. The idea of connecting individual computers into a network was originally conceptualized during the Cold War era as a means of anticipating nuclear attack. The ARPANET project was born in the 1960's and became the precursor of Modern Internet.
